The DABIDA day was a big success and I was trilled to meet Brian and Wendy Froud.

This 3rd DABIDA Day will be a
very special one:
For the first time the
DABIDA Award
-an exclusive silver
dragonfly-
will be presented for the best
doll out of all entries on the theme 'Springtime'.
The 3 nominees
Véronique Jacquelin
Mariska Mielen
Charles Stephan
will be present with their work, so you can meet these
3 artists and view their entries.
The best of these 3 will be
announced 15.45 p.m.
and the winner will receive the DABIDA Doll Award 2009.
Brian and Wendy Froud will be there!!!
Several DABIDA artists make fantasy dolls
such as faeries.
A source of inspiration for them no doubt is the work of
Brian Froud.
Brian and his wife Wendy will be the
special guests on this DABIDA Day.
Brian Froud
is a worldwide famous illustrator of fairy tale- and fantasy figures.
He worked on the 'Faeries' book and on the movies 'The Dark Crystal'
and 'Labyrinth' by Jim Henson and featuring David Bowie.
Wendy Froud
is a talented doll artist who worked on several animation
movies. She designed Yoda for 'The Empire Strikes Back' and is the
illustrator of fantasy books.
From origin Wendy is American but she lives together
with Brian in Dartmoor, U.K in a landscape that makes it easy
to believe in faeries and goblins.
This will be THE opportunity to
meet Brian and Wendy
Froud in person.
Apart from the exhibition there will be demonstrations during the
whole day by DABIDA members showing their different techniques.
There will be a lot to see and to experience.

I’m proud to present the first DABIDA book!

The DABIDA group created a wonderful book with Dutch and Belgian doll art. In this book you will find works of all the DABIDA members. The book has 40 pages with approximately 65 full colour, high quality pictures. It also includes a short biography in Dutch and English of each artist and their photo.
